TreeHouse School is a specialist school for children and young adults aged 3-19 with a primary diagnosis of autism, some of whom have additional learning needs. To continue our development, we are looking to recruit a qualified Teacher to join us on our ambitious journey. If you are a subject lead currently or you are ready to become one we will award 'TLR a' for your additional responsibilities.

Your day to day role will include delivering creative and person-centred lessons to up to 8 learners within your secondary phase class. The curriculum for our secondary classes focuses on pathways and preparation to adulthood, social participation development, independence, community access and quality of life outcomes.  Our learners are mostly pre-verbal or use assistive communication systems to make their needs understood and follow different pathways depending on their needs and strengths, these are pre, semi and formal and you can read more here https://treehouseschool.org.uk/learn-with-us/how-we-deliver-our-curriculum

Your role as a Class Teacher:

Provide excellent delivery, teaching and course leadership to learners across TreeHouse School.

Safeguard and promote the welfare of the children and young people we support.

Work with pupils to ensure they receive a service that delivers the outcomes specified in their individualised learning, person-centred plans.

Prepare and deliver schemes of work, lesson plans, assignments and assessments in line with departmental and awarding body requirements.

Work collaboratively with allied health professionals as part of a trans-disciplinary team.

Assessment: We will ask you to complete a written task prior to interview, a formal interview (45 minutes - 1 hour) and you will conduct a Micro Teach (20-30 minutes) with a group of pupils.

TreeHouse School is a non-maintained special school that was founded in 1997. Based in the heart of a thriving community in north London, it educates autistic pupils aged three to 19 from across London and the Home Counties.

Using the Ambitious Approach to education, pupils receive specialist and personalised support through a dedicated transdisciplinary team of qualified teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists and behaviour specialists.

Our Curriculum:

Our curriculum is tailored to each pupil’s unique qualities, specific needs, and individual starting points. In this way, we can set accurate targets for progress.

In our individualised learning programmes, we assess each pupil extensively and consider their strengths and what they find more challenging. Our curriculum is creative and flexible, using our natural environment to extend pupils’ learning. You are as likely to see maths being practised in the shop, the community or the garden as you are in the classroom. Where appropriate, our curriculum is linked to and, where necessary, differentiated from the National Curriculum’s requirements.
