The Holmewood SchoolNorth Finchley and Muswell Hill, North London

SEN Teaching Assistants (Full-time only)

The Holmewood School is a small independent Special Educational Needs school meeting the needs of children with high functioning autism and Asperger’s, language and communication difficulties and specific learning difficulties. We have  been awarded Advanced Accreditation Status by the National Autistic Society.

We are looking for dynamic, energetic, flexible and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our small, warm and friendly team due to an increase in our student numbers. Your role will be to support teachers with classroom practice and pupils in their academic, social and emotional learning. You will be committed to providing the best opportunities for our rewarding but sometimes challenging group of learners and ensuring every child is supported to achieve their full potential.

We are located in North Finchley and Muswell Hill. Our Lower School site is conveniently situated directly opposite Woodside Park station on the Northern Line.  Our Upper School has just opened in September at a lovely site in Muswell Hill.

We can offer you the benefits of working to a school calendar with a 37-week year (15 weeks paid holidays) and an excellent professional development package.

We are part of the Cavendish Group, a unique group of educational independent day and boarding schools. We work closely with the other schools in our group, have extensive community links and believe in ‘thinking differently’ and being as creative as possible in our teaching.

A flexible approach, a sense of humour, reliability, punctuality, stamina, resilience and the ability to work under pressure are essential.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of working with children and a personal or professional understanding of autism.

Interviews will be held remotely via Google Meet. Successful candidates will be invited to the school to complete a written task, have a tour of the school and verify identity.

For more information, please contact Simon Hardwick, Office Manager, on 020 8920 0660 or enquiries@thsl.org.uk or visit our website at www.thsl.org.uk

Closing date for applications: 9.00am on Monday 19th April 2021

Interview date: week commencing Monday 26th April 2021.

Previous applicants need not apply.

The post is full-time, working hours are 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. We are unable to consider applications from candidates who are unable to work full-time hours.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check prior to employment.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.

We encourage diversity in our staffing in order for children and young people to see themselves represented in society.
