Aston Academy is a large 11 – 19 academy on the border of Sheffield and Rotherham with over 1700 students on roll, which was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in June 2018. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and conscientious SENCo who will ensure efficient and effective day to day operation of the provision for students with SEND in the academy. The post-holder will provide professional advice and guidance in the areas of SEND in order to secure high quality teaching, and will ensure resources are used effectively to ensure improved standards of achievement and progress for all students. 

Successful candidates will benefit from an excellent professional development programme which will include highly effective induction and coaching/mentoring.

Aston Academy is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in Swallownest, Sheffield. It is supported by the multi-academy Aston Community Education Trust, which provides specialist staff and expertise for three secondary schools and nine Junior. Aston is a larger than the average-sized secondary, Aston Academy provides 1,800 places for students aged 11-18, when fully subscribed.

Aston Community Education Trust was formed in May 2011 when Aston Academy, previously known as Aston Comprehensive School, converted to academy status.
