Job overview

Are you a qualified or aspiring SENCo?

Join a school that has a remarkable 300 years of history behind it, and a bright future ahead.

We are looking to recruit a SENCo to join us. This role would suit either an experienced and qualified SENCo or a teacher wishing to receive further experience, support and training toward gaining the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASCo). The in-school support provided will be matched by extensive, specialist support from a range of inclusion experts from across our network of schools. Within this role you will play a pivotal role in a committed team and make a real impact on the outcomes of our pupils.

You’ll be part of our whole-school community working to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has access to outstanding education and real choices in life. This is made possible by our great teachers, which is why we offer tailored professional development to our staff at every stage of their career progression.

Regular coaching sessions and an ‘open door’ lesson policy ensures you receive extensive, responsive support and peer-to-peer sharing of best practice.

The academy has fostered a collaborative infrastructure which has instilled a strong sense of community amongst our staff. This is exemplified by the anonymous ‘buddy’ scheme, where staff are encouraged to carry out random acts of kindness for a fellow team member. From ‘Teacher of the week’ ceremonies to events and socials, your hard work will always be recognised at Burlington Danes.

As a teacher at Burlington Danes, you will be part of Ark, an international charity and one of the UK's most successful multi-academy trusts, with a network of 35 schools in 4 locations across the country. Benefits of being part of the Ark network include:

  • A salary 2.5% higher than the main scale teacher salaries
  • Twice as many training days as standard and network-wide events with Ark colleagues, held by the best minds in education

Curriculum

We believe that everyone deserves to be accepted, included and empowered to live a life that is purposeful and fulfilling. Our curriculum is a key driver of this vision and our Christian ethos. We place the curriculum at the heart of school life. It drives all other decisions that we make and is the best means we have of demonstrating as a school what we believe in and what we stand for. Our curriculum is a broad, balanced and equitable offer; built around the core disciplines of English, mathematics, science, humanities, languages and religious education. All subject areas prepare pupils for future study within their discipline, with mastery of core and foundation subjects ensuring pupils have choice later on in their education; as they specialise in key areas of study.  The curriculum in each subject area has been designed backwards from university study, through A-Level, GCSE, and into the Primary and Early Years phase to ensure students can reach their fullest potential.
