About Us

This is an exciting opportunity to join the SEND Leadership Team - Inclusion. The development of the Inclusion area within Children’s Services is restructuring the SEND Casework function in order to enhance the support and quality of services which can be provided to Children and Young People (CYP) with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

We oversee a range of support to meet the needs of CYP in education aged 0-25 years. Our aim is to improve outcomes and make a positive difference to the lives of children, young people and young adults with SEND, as well as their families. Provision of support is based on the SEND Code of Practice 0-25 and is interpreted alongside the school funding reforms of 2013.

About the Job

We are looking for 2 highly experienced managers with SEND operational and strategic knowledge and expertise, in particular with regard to the SEND Code of Practice 2015. You will lead and develop the SEND Casework Team to meet the LAs statutory requirements whilst ensuring that the Local Offer is promoted and services are developed to meet local need.

Each position will have responsibility for half of the county, on an East/West split. Additionally, each post holder will lead on a specialist area of knowledge.

About You

You will have strong leadership skills, an in-depth knowledge of SEND and relevant legislation.  You will have a proven track record of working and delivering with the SEND Framework. You will have excellent organisational skills along with experience of managing change and a positive mindset to embrace a challenging role. You will also have experience of working in a multi-agency way and facilitating partnership working.

We are proud to offer an environment that is supportive and rewarding, working as part of a team who are passionate about the work they do.

We offer an excellent benefits package to all of our employees, including (to name but a few): a Local Government Pension scheme,  a flexible benefits scheme via salary sacrifice, My Staff Shop discounts for online shopping, insurance benefits, gym discounts, and generous annual leave,  alongside flexible working arrangements and employee wellbeing services to support a healthy lifestyle and a practical work/life balance.
