We are looking to appoint a committed and compassionate member of staff to take a lead role in the co-ordination of SEND provision at Hinchley Wood School.

We want to continue to build our expertise so we can fully cater for the needs of every student in our warm and welcoming community, and you will work as part of a SEND leadership team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative and ambitious practitioner to play a key role in the development of the school and make a significant impact on the life chances of our students. Exact responsibilities will be negotiated with the successful candidate. We are looking for someone with:

  • Previous experience of working within an inclusive team and a good understanding of the needs of SEND students and their parents.
  • An excellent working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current SEND legislation.
  • Appropriate specialist qualifications in SEND / National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination, or be prepared to work towards this within 2 years of appointment.
  • Experience of completing SEND assessments and pastoral plans.
  • Successful teaching experience in the area of SEND/EAL/Literacy/ASC/BESD and the ability to deliver specialist training support to colleagues.
  • A proven track record in raising attainment and accelerating progress.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills.

Hinchley Wood School is a comprehensive coeducational secondary school based in Surrey, for students between the ages of 11 and 18. It gained academy status in 2012 and multi academy status in 2019 - Hinchley Wood Learning Partnership.  In October 2019 Hinchley Wood Primary School joined the Partnership.
