Appointment of a Senior Deputy Head for Kaiwen Academy Haidian
Kaiwen Education, in partnership with the Chinese Government, seeks to appoint an innovative and experienced Senior Deputy Head curriculum leader who will also be the Senior Deputy Head for Kaiwen Academy Haidian. Established in 2016 in partnership with Tsinghua University High School, and situated on a £300 million state-of-the-art campus in the Haidian District of Beijing, KWA provides outstanding day and boarding education for 2,000 students aged 5 to 18.
This is an exciting opportunity to further develop an evolving international curriculum in a school which aspires to be among the best in the world. The Senior Deputy Head will lead an experienced and exceptionally well-qualified faculty, drawing upon the expertise of leading educationalists in Beijing and the UK and working with partners at Tsinghua University High School.
The appointed candidate will have a track record of successful academic and curriculum leadership experience developed in the USA, or in a leading international school. An understanding of the Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum is important. Well-developed people management skills are essential as is a genuine resonance with the pastoral needs of young people.

The School
Beijing Haidian Kaiwen Academy (KWA), founded in 2016, is a K-12 international school accredited by Cognia and is a WASC candidate school. Located at the foot of the picturesque and historic YuQuan Mountain, Haidian District in Beijing, the KWA campus is 200,000 square meters of beautiful gardens that integrate natural ecology, cultural heritage, and modern beauty with 140,000 square meters of green space.
Curriculum at KWA
Our school is organized into the Primary School, grades K-5, the Middle School, grades 6-8, and high school, grades 9-12. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Education’s nine-year compulsory education program, KWA’s curriculum is built on strength from both Chinese and western education.
For Primary and Middle School, we follow a bilingual program using the US Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards along with the Chinese National Curriculum.
For High School, we follow the US Common Core and College Board AP curriculum and also offer the UK IGCSE and A-Level UK programs.
