Barton Hill Boarding House – Shaftesbury School

We are looking to appoint a Senior House Parent (Activities) to work with the boarding students at our vibrant and exciting international boarding house. The role is very diverse and the ideal candidate will demonstrate a warm personality, tolerant nature and an interest in the wellbeing and development of young people. Reporting to the Vice Principal/Head of Boarding, the main responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

Sustaining and developing the boarding activities, events and trip programme and supporting other staff with activities, event planning and running activities.

Assisting with a system of support, monitoring, evaluation and progression of all pastoral matters concerning the boarders.

Taking responsibility for the safety, security, behaviour and welfare of the boarders, when on duty

Mentoring students, recording conversations, contacting parents and supervising visitors.

Any other duties to ensure the safe and secure running of the boarding house.

The role of a senior house parent is extremely diverse and the ideal candidate will have relevant experience in working with teenagers, preferably in a residential setting, and will have experience in organising and delivering activities, trips and events. The candidate will have a D1 minibus licence or the ability to obtain one quickly.

The annual hours are 1414 per annum working an average of 37 hours per week, with a mixture of mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights and weekends. 38 weeks per year plus 1 inset day.

The salary is: Grade 8 £18,105 -£21,213 actual salary

The night duty is paid at: £35.37 per night and weekend enhancement at 1.5.

There is no accommodation for this role and a staff duty room is used for the overnight duty.
