Job overview

We are looking for an experienced educator to join the Learning and Community Engagement Team at Jupiter Artland. The Senior Learning Coordinator will lead the day to day running of Jupiter Artland Foundation’s programme of free visits for nurseries, schools, colleges, universities and community groups.

The post holder will deliver workshops and lead tours, devise workshop content and lesson plans and manage enquiries and bookings. In addition, they will contribute to the broader learning programme, develop resources and content, lead the development of a CPD programme for teachers, support the development of an evaluation framework and contribute to our ORBIT outreach project.

The successful candidate will be an inspiring educator with a broad knowledge of contemporary art. The role is ideally suited to an arts specialist teacher looking for a change of teaching environment. A key part of the role will be to develop resources for schools and teachers which link to the Curriculum for Excellence and National priorities for learners.

The successful candidate will have good organisational and communication skills and experience of managing projects. They will bring flexibility and a positive approach to partnership working, working with artists and young people. As the majority of teaching at Jupiter Artland takes place outside, experience of learning in the outdoors and a passion for being outdoors would be an advantage.

Jupiter Artland is a contemporary sculpture park set in 120 acres of woodland just outside Edinburgh. We are a registered charity, committed to nurturing the work of outstanding contemporary artists and commissioning site-specific works in response to the landscape. At the heart of everything we do is our ground-breaking learning programme, offering free visits for nurseries, schools, colleges, universities and community groups. This is subsidised by paid for classes, workshops and events, ticket sales and donations. To date we have welcomed over 28,000 learners to Jupiter Artland free of charge.

At Jupiter Artland, learners are encouraged to discover the landscape, play in nature, take artistic risks, and develop a sense of agency as they make their own choices, knowing every response will be valid. Jupiter Artland is a magical, nurturing place to learn; children listen differently in this place because it is wild.
