Job overview

We are looking for a Senior Projects Officer – London Curriculum to join our busy education and youth team in City Hall. This role is a one-year fixed-term or secondment position.

We’re passionate about improving the lives of young Londoners. We believe every one of them should benefit from a good school place, opportunities to thrive in safe and welcoming communities and a chance to have a say and contribute to London’s future.

The London Curriculum is a successful way of providing London’s teachers and pupils access to the capital’s cultural and historic resources in and outside the classroom.  The London Curriculum has helped three out of five of London’s secondary schools and nearly a quarter of London primary schools by providing free teaching resources at key stages 2 and 3 that help bring the national curriculum to life. The key priority over the next year is for the London Curriculum to be used by more schools.

The London Curriculum team also leads on a range of specific initiatives to promote the take-up of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects and careers, including the Mayor’s London Scientist programme and a new Gender Action Award to champion gender equality in childhood.

The Senior Projects Officer will need to support an effective communication strategy to help us achieve our long-term aim of every school accessing the London Curriculum. They will also work with the London Curriculum Project Manager to develop a STEM strategy to sustain and evolve activity, including the Mayor’s London Scientist programme.

You will have a detailed knowledge and an excellent understanding of the issues relating to the STEM landscape in London, as well as subject knowledge in schools and the wider education agenda at a national and regional level. Enthusiasm to work for the benefit of all young Londoners, particularly the most disadvantaged, is a must.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.

If you have a question about the role or the recruitment process then please contact a member of the recruitment team via email on glajobs@london.gov.uk quoting reference GLA2098.
