Job overview

Be amazing, be inspired, be you.

Our children and young people deserve the best possible future and we feel the same about our staff. You deserve to have the career you want, in an environment that allows you to be yourself. As a member of our team, you’ll receive a sector-leading salary, extensive benefits, training, and a clear career pathway ahead of you.

If you want to join the UK’s leading provider of specialist education and care, working passionately to bring the best possible outcomes for young people, you’re in the right place.

Be the Psychologist, be the guide.

Join our embedded Clinical Services Team and help us to help the children and young people we live and learn with to realise a future filled with aspiration and achievement and have uniquely outstanding outcomes.

Across all of our specialist schools, children’s homes and integrated provisions, we provide unrivalled levels of therapeutic support, both in terms of our expertise and breadth of provision to children and young people presenting with a complexity of need including neurodiversity, developmental trauma and special educational needs.

Luxborough Court School is a brand new modern purpose built school that was completed in 2017. It is registered for 150 pupils aged 5 – 19.

There are approximately 20 classrooms, comprising a mixture of general teaching rooms for all year groups and more specialised classrooms. There is a large sports hall and a bespoke 6th form suite.

There are a number of other smaller individual spaces used for therapeutic intervention and bespoke support packages.

The School benefits from extensive outdoor space, including an area for the delivery of horticulture. There is a large central courtyard garden in the centre of the school and separate secondary and junior playgrounds and a fenced off multi-use games area.

There are good public transport connections with Chigwell Station one mile away, providing London Underground Central Line services to central London and other Essex towns. The road links are good and the site is located adjacent to the M11 although access to it is approximately 2.3 miles south at Woodford Junction 4. The M11 links from Cambridge to London.

Our clinicians are a crucial part of what we offer. With their expertise, we can meet children and young people’s emotional and underlying needs and together go beyond and help create amazing stories of success.

Do you want to join us and be in an environment where you can creatively, develop and practically apply your professional experience and skills?

This is a great opportunity to change young lives and have a positive impact on their future.  Embedded within one of our schools you will be offered the support, resource and commitment for you to do great things. You’ll benefit from both Clinical and line management supervision, CPD opportunities including a development programme and access to a 120+ strong team of multi-disciplinary clinical colleagues who will be with you every step of the way.

The role

As part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team you will be supporting educational colleagues to provide therapeutic learning environments and based on clinical assessment and formulation offer individualised interventions to our children and young people.

Our clinicians work collaboratively within our schools. This ensures that therapeutic support permeates every aspect of the education we offer all of our children and young people. You will provide consultation, workshops, training and guidance to the educational teams around our children.

There’s no doubt that you’ll face some challenges. You must therefore be a resilient, reflective, creative and a flexible practitioner. In return, you will find this to be a highly rewarding role, where you will be working to make a real difference to a child or young person’s life.

Be the Psychologist you always wanted to be

  • A qualified Psychologist accredited with HCPC
  • A specialist with proven skills and experience to engage and deliver therapeutic interventions with children and young people with complex needs.
  • Experience of supporting the team around a child or young person to provide clinically informed living and learning environments and experiences.
  • A confident, engaging and effective, model, guide, leader and trainer.
  • A member of a multi-disciplinary team, receiving regular supervision and supported in your CPD.
  • A highly organised professional ready to take the initiative.

Working with us

The Psychologists with us bring far more than just the essentials; registration with HCPC, lengthy sector experience and a background in team supervision are all vital (as is being a car driver, as there’s some travel involved). The difference with Witherslack Group teams, though, is that you can sense the commitment – that far-sighted view of potential outcomes that drives us toward achieving them. We need that. It’s what makes us who we are as an organisation.

You will be comfortable delivering training to parents and other professionals. Experience of working with those with autism, mental health issues and social and emotional difficulties will stand you in good stead for a role filled with possibility – not just for our young people, but for you too, as you develop your career.

Be Rewarded

We know you’re going to do great things. For your hard work and commitment, we want to reward you with a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector.

You’ll receive

  • A competitive salary
  • Pension Scheme matched up to 5% or a range of flexible pension options to suit personal circumstances(where applicable)
  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training
  • Extensive Group staff benefits such as Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance and Cycle to Work Scheme

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Waveney Patel, Regional Director (Clinical) on 07918581509
