The Howard of Effingham School has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Science Technician to join the team.  

Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday 8.15am to 4.00pm, Friday 8.15am to 3.45pm (30 minute unpaid lunch break)

The post holder will work as part of a team of technicians servicing laboratories, preparing materials and equipment for demonstrations and practical lessons as requested by teaching staff, under the supervision of the Lead Science Technician and the Head of Science. They will also provide technical support including health and safety guidance to pupils, experienced and trainee teachers, assisting in practical classes and carrying out demonstrations.  Other duties will include: disposal of waste materials; carrying out safety checks on materials; monitoring stock levels and administrative tasks such as record keeping.

The successful applicant will have a minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C or above, together with a science related A Level or equivalent level of experience. Previous relevant work experience in a similar environment is essential, as is an understanding of health and safety requirements and experience of working with COSHH requirements.  Good written and oral communication skills are a must, as is the ability to work independently and a part of a team.
