Salary range: BEX 06 – 07 (£20,667 - £24,999 pro rata) depending on experience 

Hours: 36 hours per week (excluding lunch)/40 weeks per year 

Daily start time: 8.00am

We are a large, non-selective, mixed school on the Bexley/Kent border catering for 1688 students including over 250 in our successful Sixth Form. The school is located 15 minutes away from the Dartford Tunnel, M25 and Abbey Wood Crossrail and the A2 is 10 minutes away. 

We are looking for an inspirational Senior Science Technician, who will be responsible for the preparation of science materials and equipment for practical demonstrations & experiments, maintenance of science laboratories, preparation rooms, stocks of science chemicals and equipment. 

You will play a fundamental role in the smooth running of the science department by supporting pupils with all practical work and ensuring that the class teacher is able to deliver the curriculum effectively.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day duties of the Science Laboratory Technicians.

The successful applicant will require a broad educational background, preferably with experience of managing a team of technicians and the day-to-day running of the school preparatory rooms, including provision of practical resources for Key Stage 3 to 5.

Duties include:

· Supporting both students and science teachers throughout the day

· Setting up and using the equipment accurately and safely

· Take a proactive approach to work

· Organised and knowledge of the relevant health and safety regulations

· Able to manage the stock control of chemicals and equipment

· Ensure that equipment is properly cleaned and that chemicals and other materials are appropriately stored.
