Job overview

Chulmleigh Community College is a high performing, ambitious college well known for exemplary behaviour and conduct. This is a school where pupils want to learn and teachers focus upon high quality teaching.  This is a rapidly growing College, which has become attractive to families from a large area due to the high standards and excellent exam results; amongst the strongest in the South West.  Our Progress 8 figure has been exceptionally high for the last 5 years.  We anticipate that pupil numbers will continue to grow in line with the success of our pupils and staff.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and talented Senior Teacher/Head of Science who will lead and build on the success of our high performing Science Department.  Situated within our new buildings, we have purpose built, high specification laboratories and a designated teaching classroom.  We are seeking to expand this department further with additional teaching spaces.  As part of a locally based academy trust there is also opportunity for cross-phase work with key stage two colleagues and pupils.  Consequently, this is a very exciting time to be joining the College to lead our very strong Science Department.

The Senior Teacher will demonstrate consistent high standards of teaching and leadership and have the energy and enthusiasm to support the Science team to ensure the best education for our ambitious students. The successful candidate will be required to teach Science to all ability groups across KS3 and KS4.

Applications are welcome from candidates who are able to demonstrate highly developed skills that will ensure our students and all those supporting them are committed to very high standards in keeping with the College’s reputation. This role would suit an applicant who has future ambitions to become a Deputy Headteacher and/or who wishes to work in middle leadership with additional whole-school responsibility as part of our Senior Leadership Team.

We pride ourselves on the quality of the learning environment and you will be able to immerse yourself in your subject fully. Chulmleigh Community College runs a CPD programme for all teaching staff based on research from the Educational Endowment Foundation.  Alongside this, we support the career progression of all our staff.  Your development and future career are very important to us.
