Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic individual to join our residential services team at our Broomfield Hall campus.  You will be a dedicated and motivated professional ready to provide positive and caring support, engaging evening activities and overnight supervision for those students living in our halls of residence.  You will ideally have experience of working in a residential setting and will be available to work one or more nights from Sunday - Thursday, starting at 4.45pm and finishing at 8.15am during term time.


The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be approachable and friendly whilst being adept at negotiating, motivating and inspiring. You will also be a positive role model for both students and staff in terms of conduct, professional performance and interpersonal skills.

As part of this role you will be required to sleep in the single occupancy residential wardens flat and respond to any calls throughout the night.

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.   

Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
