Job overview
Derby College is seeking to recruit a Sessional Teacher of Hairdressing and/or Barbering to join its Hair and Beauty Academy at both its Roundhouse and Ilkeston campuses.
You will be a dedicated and highly motivated professional who can consistently deliver inspirational teaching, learning and assessment as well as drive high standards and develop students' employability and practical skills.
The successful applicant will have experience in teaching and assessing and will be responsible for planning schemes of work and lesson planning, setting and marking assignments, updating individual learning plans and entering student data. Excellent administration and interpersonal skills together with a commitment to working effectively as part of a team are also essential in this role
You will hold a relevant teaching qualification, or be willing to work towards one, and will have achieved a minimum of a Level 3 in Hair and or Barbering as well as a level 2 or equivalent in English and Maths.

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.
Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
