The Weald is an outstanding, high achieving, popular and oversubscribed 11-18 comprehensive school, situated in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, 10 minutes from Horsham, 35 minutes from Guildford and Brighton, and an hour by train to London. The school has an excellent record of academic and pastoral achievement and we pride ourselves in creating a caring and respectful ethos where every child is important. The school was judged to be ‘Outstanding in all areas’ by Ofsted. Progress 8 results at GCSE place us in the top 10% of schools nationally on a rolling three year basis. The Sixth Form has 300 students and is consistently one of the highest achieving sixth forms nationally.
We are looking for a confident, proactive and highly organised individual for this key role in our high achieving Sixth Form. Working as part of our Sixth Form Team, you will have a central role in leading our pursuit of high standards in all we do. The role has an academic and pastoral component and will involve supporting Sixth Form students pastorally, academically and in terms of their future planning. We can offer you the chance to work in a supportive, fast moving and exciting school community in a role that will be challenging, varied and rewarding. You will join a team comprising this post, the KS5 Director of Learning, a part time sixth form manager and a sixth form administrator.
Hours: Although this post is mostly term time only the post holder will be paid for 49.4 weeks per year to include holiday pay. This is because support staff can only receive payment for a maximum of 37 hours a week. The increased hours per year will reflect additional hours that are required flexibly during term time and occasionally in school holidays eg exam results days.
The successful candidate will:
- exhibit excellent interpersonal skills
- have an understanding of academic interventions and pastoral support for post-16 students
- be ICT literate and have the ability to analyse data to identify trends and areas of concern
- have the skills to lead other colleagues and foster a positive ethos in teams of professionals and students.
Visits to the school are welcomed. Please contact Yvonne Clements, Headteacher’s PA (firstname.lastname@example.org), if you would like to arrange a visit.
