Job overview

We require for February 2019 a talented and enthusiastic part-time (0.66) teacher of Spanish to teach GCSE and A level.

Founded in 1915, Beechwood Sacred Heart School is a co-educational, independent, day and boarding school based around an elegant Victorian mansion set in extensive grounds close to the centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Beechwood is a non-selective day and boarding school. Small class sizes and dedicated teachers enable pupils to achieve results significantly above national averages with strong value-added outcomes. Class sizes are typically 12-14 pupils at GCSE and 7-9 at A-Level. The school prides itself on the excellent rapport between staff and pupils, which flourishes in a family-like atmosphere. Beechwood pupils are encouraged to think for themselves, think creatively and learn to work in teams – this makes them ready for life at university and in the workplace.

The curriculum offered to pupils is broad and balanced with 23 subject choices at GCSE and at A-level. Small teaching groups, choice of subjects, and excellence in teaching and learning provide the backdrop allowing pupils to excel.  The successful applicant will enjoy teaching motivated pupils in small classes in a stunning setting close to the centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells.

To apply for this vacancy, please download the teaching application form. Once completed, post or email with a covering letter to: Head’s Secretary, Beechwood Sacred Heart School, Pembury Road, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent TN2 3QD; bsh@beechwood.org.uk

Early applications are very much encouraged; the school reserves the right to interview before the closing date. We welcome applications from NQTs and experienced teachers and those with or without experience of the independent sector as full induction is provided.

The School is committed to equality and diversity and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.    Applicants for any positions available at the School must be willing to undergo a number of safeguarding checks including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, reference checks with previous employers and, where applicable, a Barred List, Prohibition and EEA check.
