9.00am to 3.15pm Monday to Friday, 50 or 20 mins lunch break (Juniors)


8.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday, 1 hour lunch break (Infants)


Grade C - £18,933 - £19,941 FTE

Term time only (40 working weeks / 45.62 paid weeks)


We have a vacancy for a Special Needs Assistant at Alderwood Primary School.  


We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled and creative Special Needs Assistant to work at our friendly school. Responsibilities will include providing support 1:1 for a child with ASD and SEMH needs across all aspects of the curriculum. You will also need to prepare resources and assist the teacher in the day to day management. 


Experience is desirable, but not essential. You will be well supported and in-school training will be provided. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate good understanding of the challenges demonstrated by overwhelming emotions that can go alongside ASD and show an empathy for these children and have an intuitive response to their needs. Additionally, they would need to be able to work under direction of the class teacher/SENCO, show initiative and enjoy being part of a hard-working team.

There will be an interview panel comprising of the Head of School and SENCO. Both the Head of School and the SENCO have undertaken the ‘Safer Recruitment in Schools’ training.
