Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Status:  Temporary (see below)

Hours/Percentage of Week: 25 hrs per week

Weeks per year: 39 weeks (Term time only + INSET Days)

We would like to offer a part-time post of 25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year to provide one to one support for a child with additional educational needs in Year 4 starting as soon as possible. The contract is temporary and will last for the period of time that the child remains at our school. 

Experience in working with Special Needs KS2 age children would be expected. This role will require some flexibility and liaison with teaching and midday supervising staff to ensure the child is safe, in class and at lunchtime. Personal care for children will be required at times. The child concerned has Moderate Learning Difficulties and social and emotional difficulties.

A good personal standard of mathematics and literacy is expected. This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.  The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages.
