Job overview

       Special School Lunchtime Assistant

Great Oaks College - Part Time

Oaklands is an outstanding special school serving the London Borough of Hounslow that provides specialist education to students with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple difficulties and autism. We have a Primary school (New Oaks), Secondary school (High Oaks) and a specialist independent SEN College provision (Great Oaks). We can cater for students aged from 4 to 25 across the Oaklands group.

Oaklands is at an exciting point in its development. Last year we relocated to our purpose built new school building (close to Osterley Tube Station and other public transport links) that offers state of the art facilities for our students. In September 2020, the primary and secondary schools will be based on two sites with New Oaks Primary moving back to our newly refurbished Woodlands Road site.

Due to our rapid and continued expansion, we are looking to appoint additional lunchtime assistants (SSLA’s) to support and supervise our students over the lunch period. SSLA’s are invaluable members of our team and must be sensitive and resilient to the needs of our pupils. Candidates should be strong team players and be prepared to assist with the toileting and eating /drinking programmes of all students and pupil supervision. Please refer to the job description for the full range of duties.

If you have experience working with children or young people, are reliable and possess a caring approach towards children with complex needs, we would like to hear from you.

We offer a comprehensive induction and Inset programme for our staff, a pension scheme and employee assistance programme.

Oaklands is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and anyone applying to work at the school is expected to share this commitment. This position is subject to a satisfactory fully enhanced DBS check and references being received. All positions are subject to the satisfactory completion of a 26 working week probation period.

Details of this post are available on the school’s website: www.oaklands.hounslow.sch.uk
