Rossendale School are seeking a Special Support Assistant to join their team.  Our school is expanding and this post will be for a September start.  The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher.  This role is full time to provide specific learning support for children aged 8 - 18 years who have complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties with associated autism spectrum conditions.

The role will involve:

  • Ensuring that pupils’ special educational needs are being addressed, having due regard for the School's philosophy and policies
  • Meeting individual needs and ensuring that all pupils achieve their academic potential.

Rossendale School has an excellent staff team who are enthusiastic and supportive.  If you have experience of working with young people in a school setting, are flexible, imaginative and enthusiastic we would be pleased to hear from you.  Experience of working in a specialist school is not essential as the school runs its own extensive training programme.

The post holder will need to have held a full driving licence for at least 3 years.

Any candidates shortlisted will be invited to attend a informal interview day on 21st June and if successful at this stage, a formal interview will be held on 22nd June.

The School provides education for young people aged from 7 – 18 years of age.  Key stages 2, 3 and 4 are based on the main school site, whilst Key stage 5 have a specialist sixth form building based in the local community. At Key stage 4 and 5 we offer a wide range of GCSE subjects, BTEC Awards, Functional Skills, ASDAN and Entry Level qualifications. We are currently wanting to expand A level courses at the sixth form provision. Given the disrupted nature of our pupils’ education, prior to their admission to Rossendale, we have had some outstanding examination results.  The school admits boys and girls on both daily and residential placements.
