Integrated Services for Learning SEND Specialist Advice and Support

You are invited to apply to join our team of Specialist Advisory Teachers, working successfully throughout Hertfordshire to support children and young people, their families and educational setting.

We currently have a vacancy for a qualified teacher for children with visual impairment (QTVI). Ideally you hold the mandatory visual impairment qualification. We will however consider a suitable candidate without this qualification and will support the necessary post graduate training course which must be completed within the prescribed timescale.

Experience of teaching Visually Impaired CYP is essential. You will have recent experience supporting children in schools or currently work in an advisory service. You also need a thorough knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, work well within a team and be able to work to deadlines. You will support families of CYP (0 -25) with a Visual Impairment and their schools and settings.

You will be part of our SEND Specialist Advice and Support (SEND SAS) within Integrated Services for Learning. You will be responsible for ensuring that the educational and developmental progress of children and young people (0-25), with a range of SEND, is met in line with the Hertfordshire Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Strategy and HCC strategic objectives.

Our teams work with children and young people with a range of complex needs. This includes children in the early years, with autism and other communication difficulties, sensory and physical impairments and also those who require educational support for medical absence.

We can offer you a friendly, supportive working environment, a full induction and ongoing professional development.

Due to the nature of this role you will required to travel, therefore a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.

For an informal discussion about this role please contact Liz Cullen Lead Practitioner for Visual Impairment on 01992-588117 or liz.cullen@hertfordshire.gov.uk

Closing Date: 27th April 2018
Interview Date: w/b 7th May 2018
