The Holmewood School, part of the Cavendish Education group, can offer you the benefits of working in a small, warm and friendly independent school with a good holiday package and excellent professional training & development, with requirement to work 4 weeks within holidays over the academic year.

We meet the needs of young people with high functioning autism and Asperger’s Syndrome, language & communication difficulties, and specific language difficulties aged 7 to 19 years.

We are looking for a dynamic, flexible and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary team and work seamlessly with our education staff.  This role involves providing integrated SaLT services to young people in our school based over two sites which includes a specialist 6th Form provision. We are located in North London across multiple sites in Finchley and Muswell Hill.  We work closely with the other schools in our group, have extensive community links and believe in ‘thinking differently’ and being as creative as possible in our teaching.

The post holder will receive supervision from the senior SaLT who has extensive experience in mainstream and special school settings, is involved in the London Autism Clinical Excellence Network Committee and has trained in Solution Focused Brief Therapy.  There will be opportunities for joint working and collaboration in exciting projects.

You will be committed to providing the best opportunities for our students and ensuring every child is supported to achieve their full potential. You will demonstrate a flexible approach to education and therapy, a willingness to get involved in all aspects of school life, and the ability to work under pressure with young people that can challenge us. You will have previous experience of working with young people with autism in other educational settings.  Experience of working with young people with behaviour needs or mental health needs would also be desirable.

Full time. 8.30 am - 4.30 pm. 5 days a week (Monday to Friday) with 12 weeks holiday.

Closing date: Monday 5th July at 9am

Interviews will be held at The Holmewood School Woodside Park site, week commencing Monday 12th July.

About The Holmewood School

The Holmewood School is a growing independent day school for neurodivergent children and young people aged from 7 to 19 who have a primary diagnosis of Autism. Our young people are broadly similar to their mainstream peers in their academic ability but require support with communication and interaction, executive functioning, anxiety, functional skills and other needs related to their diagnosis. Many of our young people also have coaccurring diagnoses, such as ADHD and dyslexia.

We were awarded an Outstanding rating by Ofsted following their visit in May 2022 and we are proud to have Advanced Accreditation Status granted by the National Autistic Society.
