Speech Pathologist - School Based - Mt Maria College, PETRIE

About the role

As a member of our school team, you will work collaboratively to provide a range of speech pathology services that promote and support effective inclusive practice. The support you provide will be responsive to our school’s context, maintain a student-specific focus, and complement services provided through Brisbane Catholic Education’s School Services.

Mt Maria College Petrie is a co-educational Secondary College administered by the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane through the Brisbane Catholic Education Office and is a member of Marist Schools of Australia. It is located next to Our Lady of the Way school and Church in Petrie. The College was established by Brisbane Catholic Education in 1987 and was originally named “Kolbe College” after Saint Maximillian Kolbe. One of the main strengths of the College is the continual provision of Inclusive Education to its clientele. Central to our existence is the genuine concern for each student’s academic, spiritual and personal development. Promoting the Catholic faith, personal formation and building confidence and self esteem are paramount within our College community. There is a strong sense of family atmosphere and a great support for our College Mission. The College is nestled on four hectares of gardens and bush-land setting. Duties

• Develop, implement and evaluate speech pathology services to promote student communication, learning and well-being outcomes
• Optimise the quality of service outcomes in partnership with the school community
• Maintain standards of practice and competencies consistent with Speech Pathology Australia and BCE policies and guidelines>/span>

Qualifications & Registration

• Speech Pathology qualifications
• Blue Card or QCT registration

Skills & Experience

• Clinical competence in differential diagnosis and intervention for children/adolescents with communication difficulties and the capacity to effectively apply this knowledge and expertise within the educational or other organisational contexts.
• Experience working within educational environments
• Experience working collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams
• Problem solving skills
• Communication and networking skills

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required:   2 days/wk (15.2 hrs/wk) - days negotiable

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate:   Speech Pathologist Salary Scale - $71,479 to $97,741 (pro rata) per annum plus Super

Employment Conditions:   Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement 2015-2019

This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
