Job overview

Times Higher Education is looking for a talented journalist with the digital nous and copy-handling and production skills to strengthen its award-winning team as a sub-editor.

With more than 45 years as a national title, THE covers global issues in higher education, and has a growing international audience thanks in part to its influential World University Rankings and World Summit Series of events.

We need an experienced sub-editor to join our production team to work across our weekly print magazine and digital offerings, including all our supplements for the World University Rankings and digital rankings releases.

If you are an expert in grammar, can spot a typo from 20 paces, are used to handling data and working across print and digital platforms, then you could be the person we are looking for.

We are seeking a journalist used to working in a demanding, fast-paced environment, who can adhere to THE’s exacting production values and who has the insight and experience to help streamline our digital production.

The ideal candidate will have experience at a quality regional or national title, and will be able to demonstrate impeccable command of grammar alongside a suite of digital media skills, including proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, working in CMSs, app production, newsletter distribution and video and audio skills.

An understanding and enthusiasm for presenting content online, both in terms of SEO and sharing via social media, is as important in this role as a flair for an eye-catching headline in print.

An interest in higher education is important, but direct experience is not essential.

In summary, this is an exciting opportunity to join a publication that is evolving into a truly global player in one of the most interesting and rapidly developing sectors in the world.
