Job overview
We wish to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Subject Leader of Design and Technology to lead a small and growing, highly successful department. Examination results in the department have been consistently good in both A Level and GCSE, as have the extra-curricular and enrichment activities over the past 3 years. The Design and Technology department is well equipped with two resistant materials/product design workshops, a food room and a textiles room. Food Technology and Textiles Technology are currently taught to GCSE with Product Design taught to GCSE and A Level.
Applicants need to be aspirational and inspirational to both students and staff and have an excellent track record of examination results and their own teaching. Although a teaching specialism in a specific DT subject is not necessary, a sound understanding of the needs of all subjects is required.

About St Simon Stock Catholic School
St. Simon Stock Catholic School Founded in 1967 as a school of the Archdiocese of Southwark, the School recently celebrated 50 years of Catholic education serving Maidstone and the west of Kent. As a Catholic Comprehensive school of all abilities within a selective area, the School is known for its high standards of academic, vocational, sporting and pastoral achievements. The School has a Sports Hall and Designated 6th Form Centre, specialist Science labs [the School has a Science specialism], Technology workshops, Muga sports facility.
CPD - involves a series of twilight sessions on areas identified by staff through appraisal; electives are created from courses attended by staff to feedback to colleagues; training for new areas e.g. LGBTQ,SEN, Pupil Premium, etc. A Senior Member of Staff has the encouragement of career progression as part of their role in addition to Performance Management and CPD in order to gain a holistic overview of training.
OFSTED - Section 5-Good; Section 48-Outstanding in all categories.
