Westminster City School is a successful 11-18 Christian non-denominational comprehensive academy for boys with a mixed sixth form. Ours is a lively and vibrant learning community situated in the heart of central London with all the opportunities and advantages of an inner city school.  The school was confirmed as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in early 2017 with further recognition of our outstanding curriculum and governance.

"You are ambitious for the pupils at the school. You are proud of their achievements and strive to ensure they do the best they can." OFSTED 2017

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, dedicated Subject Leader of Social Sciences (Psychology, Sociology, Economics and Government and Politics) who displays and expects excellence.

The department has a track record of significant success and recruits an impressive number of students across all of these subject areas at Key Stage 5. Economics is also offered at Key Stage 4 and is a popular choice with our pupils.  The appointee will be required to teach either Psychology and Sociology or Economics to A level. Previous experience of line managing another social science is an advantage.

“Leaders have designed the curriculum to meet the needs of pupils of all abilities.  The most able pupils sit GCSE examinations early and, if they meet their target early, can start A Level courses in Year 11”. Ofsted 2017.

We are not complacent and are restless in our ambition to become better. We are confident standards continue to improve.

You like us, will share our belief in the highest standards of academic attainment in a comprehensive setting. You will have a proven track record of delivering excellent outcomes through high quality teaching, regular monitoring and collaboration with colleagues.

We believe in developing our staff and have a dynamic and supportive leadership team. Our collegiate approach to meeting the challenges of new curricula is supported by an effective CPD programme which includes a weekly teaching and learning forum.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need to undertake a criminal record check via the DBS.

If you would like to discuss the role informally with the Headteacher or to arrange an appointment to visit the school please e-mail l.ellens@wcsch.com (Headteacher’s PA). You may also wish to visit our website www.wcsch.com to read more about the school.
