Job overview

Inner London Pay Scale

Lilian Baylis Technology School is a mixed, 11-18, inner city school located in a new building at Vauxhall, London. We are a multicultural community school, which serves the local community, and we view this as one of our key strengths. We value the diversity of our school, and strive to ensure that our students feel represented, both at whole school level and within the curriculum.

In addition to this, we have outstanding facilities for our students and teachers, including electronic whiteboards and visualisers in all rooms, as well as laptops for all staff.

Our students are well behaved and ambitious, and they also value the school. All visitors to the school always comment on the calm and productive atmosphere of lessons. Our last OfSTED inspection stated we were ‘outstanding in all aspects’.

In addition, student progress at both GCSE, A Level and in our Level 3 BTEC courses is above national average, and has been consistently so. In particular, we are highly effective at bridging the gaps between disadvantaged students and non-disadvantaged students. We run an extensive intervention programme, at Key Stage 3, which means students who have low prior attainment are able to work on “catching-up” with their peers.

Drama is taught through a diversified curriculum that engages and empowers our students.  In addition, students at Key Stage 3 benefit from a “drop down day” each half term where they study a “Creative Project”, focusing on Drama, Music and other Performing Arts. The school also works collaboratively with many partners to deliver an enriched experience of the Drama curriculum, such as the Boury Academy and the Young Vic.  At Key Stage 4 students study either BTEC Performing Arts or GCSE Drama.

We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic colleague to join our Creative Arts team as the teacher of Drama. The successful candidate will teach across both Key Stage 3 and 4, with scope to teach at Key Stage 5 from 2023. The successful candidate will also be able to offer a second subject, either in English (Key Stage 3 or 4 teaching) or Media (Key Stage 5 teaching).

This is an exciting opportunity for both a teacher who is at the beginning of their career, or a teacher who is more established and looking for a fresh challenge. We would also be happy for Lead Practitioners to apply for this role, if they have the relevant expertise and experience.

Lilian Baylis Technology School offer a highly supportive and committed working environment within a culture of success. Our CPD provision is extensive and follows a research driven approach, which means that our teachers are at the leading edge of professional practice.
