Position Information 

Connected Communities is an innovative strategy that is intended to drive educational outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people through linking school education to other related services, such as health, early childhood education and care, and vocational education and training. Connected Communities is being implemented in 16 schools in 11 of the most complex communities in NSW. A key component of the strategy is the co-decision making and co-leadership at the local level with the Aboriginal community which is led by the Local School Reference Group. Government schools in these locations are hubs within their communities facilitating a range of support services that are crucial to delivering a holistic, culturally inclusive education.

  
General Selection Criteria 

In addition to a maximum 2 page CV, applicants will be required to address the following selection criteria.

In line with current application guidelines, this will be a pdf attachment of no more than 3 pages:

  • Demonstrated deep knowledge and understanding of the impact of culture, cultural identity and linguistic background on the education of students from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative strategies to support inclusive teaching and learning practices that lead to high quality learning outcomes for Aboriginal students.
  • Demonstrated ability to set learning goals that provide achievable challenges for students of varying abilities and learning styles.
 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

A  Principal Supporting Statement and Location Nomination form must be attached to your application.

Applicants applying for these positions must include the names and contact details for two professional referees in their application. Your first referee will supply the principal supporting statement.

Applicants who are successful at shortlisting will be required to underake a local suitability interview.
