Bletchley Park is a 38-week specialist school providing quality therapeutic care and education for young people with Autism, challenging behaviour, communication difficulties and complex needs. The children and young people that attend school range between the ages of 7 - 19 years.


As a Teacher you will need to have a passion for working with young people and want to make a difference in their lives. You will be a highly motivated, well organised and resourceful individual who can demonstrate flexibility and good communication skills. You will be patient and energetic but also have a genuine concern to improve the quality of life for the young people in our care.


We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to work with young people within our SEMH school who can often display behaviours that challenge.


Main Responsibilities:


To use effective teaching strategies and lesson structures to deliver the curriculum by:


· Being familiar with curriculum requirements and making full use of assessment information to develop, adapt and evaluate teaching strategies to give maximum benefit to students


· Identifying appropriate learning outcomes and developing a range of approaches which reduce barriers and help students to attain achievable targets.


· Thoroughly planning and preparing lessons and contributing to broader developments as requested


· Sequencing and structuring learning experiences and environments to develop organisational and problem-solving skills to encourage independent learning


· Selecting and managing resources, using specialised materials including ICT, as appropriate, to enable maximum access to the curriculum and to promote independent living skills.


· Being aware of the effects of attachment behaviours on learning, adjusting targets and approaches accordingly.


· Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to make best use of expertise.


· To ensure a high standard of display to provide a stimulating and challenging environment.


· Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and other specialists to extend students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.


· Working with parents/carers and other agencies to agree approaches to each student’s personal development


Person Specification:


· To hold Qualified Teacher status


· Knowledge of specific subject area(s)/key stage to be taught


· Knowledge of the learning process and good educational practice


· Knowledge of learning disabilities and/or special needs relevant to the establishment


· Knowledge of key aspects of health and safety legislation


· An understanding of actions or situations that might be considered as ‘discrimination’ and an understanding of how these can be prevented
