Due to the ongoing success of Falkland House School we are at an exciting phase in our growth. Having acquired a suitable property in Perth we are now in a position to recruit to a range of teaching positions which will double the size of our current provision.


We welcome applications for both sites and from teachers of all subjects, particularly Social Subjects and Computing. Phase 1 of the growth Project has been completed and a small number of our current pupils are now in Perth. Phase 2 involves expansion of our Perth campus. We therefore also welcome applications for immediate start and for August commencement.


About the School


Falkland House School is an in independent residential and day school for boys from primary to aged 18 years, and for girls from 12 years to 18.  Our pupils have a range of Additional Support Needs primarily Autistic Spectrum Condition.  We were the first independent school in Scotland (outside of the NAS) to receive accreditation from the National Autistic Society. All of our pupils are able to access a mainstream curriculum, but not in a mainstream environment.

About the Role


We are looking for dynamic and engaging candidates with a passion for teaching and learning. We work specifically with young people who have an Autism Spectrum Condition in a unique learning environments, which enjoy excellent resources and easy access to experiential learning opportunity beyond the classroom.


The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering SQA qualifications in relevant courses and building upon pupil interests and skills in a range of subjects. You will be working within a small, supportive, education team who are committed to delivering specialised education to the highest standards. At Falkland House Schools we pride ourselves on our ability to have a positive impact upon the lives of vulnerable young people through consistent approaches to education and care. We are looking for a candidate who can show resilience, creativity and commitment to achieving a positive destination for all of our young people. Someone who can rise to a challenge through applying their initiative and ability to utilise flexible approaches to teaching.


The ideal candidate will, undoubtedly acquire high levels of satisfaction through the combination of structured learning and increased opportunity for pastoral and approaches, leading to positive relationships. This invariably engenders a heightened sense of investment and achievement on behalf of our young people.


We particularly value creative and experiential approaches to Teaching and Learning. Candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to a range of experiences for the pupils beyond their core subject, through our electives programme. A strong commitment to collegiate activity is required.


Key accountabilities/responsibilities


teaching small classes together with associated planning and preparation;

developing the school curriculum;

assessing, recording and reporting on the work of pupils;

preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration;

providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education;

promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils;

working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals;

undertaking appropriate and agreed continuing professional development;

participating in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review;

contributing towards good behaviour management and the wider needs of the school.

Essential Criteria


Must have full GTCS registration.

ASL experience would be preferable but not essential.

Falkland House School is an in independent residential school for boys from primary to aged 18 years.  Our pupils have a range of Additional Support Needs including emotional and behavioural difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.  We were the first independent school in Scotland (outside of the NAS) to receive accreditation from the National Autistic Society.

We provide residential and day places to boys from early primary to aged 18, with residential placements of both 39 weeks and 52 weeks offered. The school has a well-established reputation for excellence in the quality of its service provision and for achieving positive educational and socially inclusive outcomes.
