Position Information 

Forbes North Public School is located on the lands of the Wiradjuri people in the town of Forbes in the central west of New South Wales. The school is a focal point of the community and caters for students Kindergarten to Year 6. Forbes North Public School also has a weekly year-long transition to school program for four year olds called Link Up to School. Forbes North currently have 18 full-time teaching staff with additional part-time teaching and support staff assisting in addressing the learning needs of all 238 students, 96 who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. The school is developing an ever increasing partnership between home, community, local businesses, external agancies, and the school. Forbes North has a strong relationship with an energetic Parent & Citizens Association consisting of parents, caregivers and the wider community. In partnership with the Schools as Community Centre we offer a number of parent education classes to help parents and caregivers engage more fully with their child's learning at school and at home. Forbes North Public School provides opportunities in the creative and performing arts, environmental science, sport, and promotes student leadership, responsibility and respect with a desire for students to achieve their personal best each day. Students are encouraged to do their personal best in a safe and caring environment supported by Positive Behaviour for Learning.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

1. Approval to teach infants and primary, with demonstrated ability to effectively use data driven practices to deliver high quality literacy and numeracy programs that engage, support, and extend a diverse range of learners. 

2. Highly developed collaborative, interpersonal and organisational skills with the capacity to extend effective, partnerships with students, parents, school staff, and the wider community.

3. Demonstrated commitment to developing cultural knowledge of all students and staff with proven experience working with Aboriginal students, children from low socio-economic backgrounds and a professional dedication to the vision of the Alice Springs Declaration.

4. Exceptional classroom management practices that provide a highly engaging learning environment to meet the complex needs of all students and supports Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL).

5. Ability to differentiate the curriculum and develop dynamic Personalised Learning and Support Plans and additionally enrich student learning opportunities in support of the High Potential Gifted Education Policy.

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

From 8 November 2021 all Department of Education employees undertaking relevant work including any work conducted on a NSW school site, will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
