Kirkcudbright Academy is a vibrant and forward looking school that is aiming to provide the best possible future for all our pupils. We are seeking to appoint a full time permanent French teacher to join us this session. French teachers with part-time availability are welcome to apply, please indicate your availability.
Kirkcudbright Academy was founded in 1582 and is housed in a range of historic and modern buildings adjacent to a community swimming pool and squash court. The grounds consist of pleasant lawns and woodland on the Dee estuary close to conservation area and artists' colony. Kirkcudbright itself is a fishing town on the Solway coast and is a popular destination for tourists. It is close to Dumfries, which is on the main arterial route to ferry ports for Northern Ireland.
Pupils are able to benefit from extra-curricular clubs and associations such as theatre productions, Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, Eco Schools Group and debating. Sporting activities on offer include football, basketball, netball, rugby, swimming, gymnastics and show-jumping. Students also take part in community outreach projects from Secondary 1, and charity fundraising is particularly important to those pupils in Secondary 6.
