Selection Criteria:

  • Accreditation to teach RE in the Wagga Wagga Diocese (or working towards) and a commitment to the Catholic Faith
  • Classroom teaching experience.
  • An effective classroom practitioner with a sound knowledge of the curriculum and contemporary pedagogy.
  • A good understanding of, and experience in collaborative teaching in teams and learning, K to 6.
  • Evidence of effectively integrating technology into teaching and learning and a good understanding of the use of Google Apps for Education an advantage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and willingness to contribute to a professional learning community and being able to articulate what this means.
  • Ability to incorporate appropriate behaviour management strategies.

About St Joseph's Primary School

St Joseph's is a Catholic primary school in the town Leeton, New South Wales. It provides education from Kindergarten through to Year 6 to around 260 students. The school was originally opened in 1917 by three Sisters from the Black Josephite Order. Now it is run by lay staff whose experience is varied, with a mix of teachers who are new to the profession and teachers that have been teaching for decades.

Facilities

St Joseph's Primary’s school grounds is made up of five building blocks, a covered outdoor area and playground. There are also dedicated rooms for music and Italian classes.

The school also has a 'learning village' which includes a library, drama and visual arts spaces, and five general learning spaces.

Curriculum

St Joseph's Primary has daily Religious Education lessons based on the 'Sharing Our Story' syllabus chosen by the Wagga Wagga Diocese. This curriculum is reinforced by daily prayers, liturgy, sacramental programmes, and monthly Sunday masses.In addition to the required Key Learning Areas, St Joseph’s Primary also has weekly lessons in information technology, music and Italian.
