Position Information 

Colyton High School is a proud comprehensive high school with a current enrolment of 800 students, including 9% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, 22% EALD and 40% LBOTE students. Colyton High School is committed to providing comprehensive quality learning opportunities for all students providing an innovative and engaging curriculum within a developing Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) environment. The school has a strong commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students and has recently established a Support Unit with one IM Support Class and two Multi-Cat (IM/Autism) Classes from 2020. Students are offered a diverse range of academic courses of study, supported through the delivery of school and TAFE delivered VET opportunities utilising outstanding trade training facilities. The school offers a wide range of extra curricula programs including sporting, creative and performing arts programs. The school embraces technology at all levels and students have good access to in-school technology in addition to a growing, ‘Bring Your Own Device’ environment. There is a strong emphasis on student leadership programs and effective student representation. The school runs a highly successful personalised student support program to assist literacy and numeracy acquisition for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Colyton High School is part of the Colyton Learning Community, producing successful middle school programs with partner primary schools. The school proactively builds and benefits from strong parent partnerships as well as community partnerships with local businesses, tertiary education institutions and non-government organisations.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach History 7-10, Commerce, Business Studies and Modern History. Approval and/or with a willingness to teach Geography.

 

Commitment to work collaboratively within a dynamic and cohesive faculty with the capacity to contribute to whole school and faculty initiatives that meet the learning and wellbeing needs of all students

 

Demonstrated capacity to design and deliver innovative future focused quality teaching and learning pedagogies that integrate information and communication technology into daily classroom practice to engage and improve student learning outcomes.

 

Demonstrated capacity to differentiate the curriculum and improve the learning outcomes of a diverse body of students including Aboriginal students, gifted and talented students and students with significant learning difficulties.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
