William Ellis School is a boys’ school with a large mixed sixth form in the north of Camden. It is in an attractive site on the edge of Hampstead Heath with excellent access to Central London. It is a neighbourhood of great social and cultural diversity, and this diversity is very well represented and celebrated at William Ellis. We educate some very able young people alongside a considerable number who are significantly disadvantaged.
Teacher in charge of Computing – Required April or September 2021
Computing is a well-established subject at William Ellis, with all students in Year’s 7 and 8 receiving 1 hour per week of Computing. At key stage 4, students study GCSE computing with classes in year’s 10 and 11 currently studying OCR GCSE. We also teach Computing at A Level as part of the LaSWAP consortium (OCR).
William Ellis has a dedicated computer suite with capacity for 28 computer stations. William Ellis is a forward-looking school aiming to provide students with computing skills fit for the 21st century. All students are given an Office 365 account and receive all homework assignments on Microsoft Teams.
Applications are invited from an enthusiastic and highly capable teacher to develop and raise the profile of Computing in a school which places good quality teaching and learning as its highest priority. There is potential for a teaching and learning responsibility for suitable candidates.
The successful candidate will:
• Be a highly motivated and inspirational classroom practitioner.
• Be committed to maximising pupil progress through setting high standards and by delivering effective teaching and learning.
• Be able to inspire, lead, support and challenge students to be achieve their potential.
An ability to teach some Maths is preferred but not essential.
