Teaching ServiceNewtown Public School is a comprehensive primary school with a current enrolment of 368 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Approximately 5% of students Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Located in the heart of Sydney's Inner West, the school community is an inclusive and diverse mix of families. The school provides a comprehensive curriculum with a focus on working closely with the school community, as well as other local primary and secondary schools as a community of shared practice. Our staff work collaboratively to create a culture of continuous improvement, resulting in increased student learning outcomes, engagement, and wellbeing. A strong foundation of school improvement in literacy and numeracy is balanced with an emphasis on specialist teaching in the arts and rich future focused, cross-curricular learning. Working to achieve excellence in Literacy and Numeracy, remain key focus areas for the school's 2021-2024 Strategic Improvement Plan. - Approval to teach students with learning and support needs K-6 and experience teaching students with learning and support needs in regular classes. Demonstrated capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers.
- Demonstrated capacity to provide specialist assistance to teachers through evidence-based programs and tiered interventions to students with additional learning and support needs, including students with social and emotional learning needs and high potential gifted students.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, model, monitor and evaluate personal adjustments for learning and support plans in consultation with classroom teachers, students and parents or carers.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead the work of the learning support team, and work collaboratively with educators, students, parents or carers and the broader community including external services and agencies.
- Highly developed organisational skills to manage and work with high volumes of data and recorded documentation to build evidence for appropriate interventions and to coordinate access request applications.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
It is anticipated this position will commence on day one of the 2023 school year.
