Teaching ServiceGardeners Road Public School is a strong learning community that provides a balanced, comprehensive curriculum for students with diverse needs. Established in 1883, this Sydney inner city school has a rich tradition of offering excellence in education and valuing the great diversity in abilities and cultures that students bring with them to the school. Over 35 different languages are spoken by our students.
The school has an enrolment of approximately 410 students across 15 mainstream and 7 support classes catering for students with autism or intellectual disabilities. The school has a strong focus on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for all students as well as providing an extensive range of programs to support student engagement and wellbeing.
A significant increase in technology across the school is ensuring that students are developing sophisticated skills in using technology to learn. An enthusiastic and talented staff work with parents to help our students develop the skills and values they will need to lead a productive and fulfilling life as young adults in a complex society that is constantly changing.
- Approval to teach primary library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver innovative lessons engaging students and teachers in future focussed initiatives, as well as promoting a love of literacy.
- Highly developed communication, organisation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the school community and contribute positively to the whole school culture.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead and implement information literacy (inclusive of Information Communication Technology) and critical thinking programs across the curriculum targeting the needs of all students.
- Ability to promote and manage a Library that functions as a learning hub for the school and engages, inspires and extends 21st Century learners.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
