Position Information 

Merrylands East Public School is located in Metropolitan South and has an enrolment of 324 students (90% from English as a additional language or dialect). 

Merrylands East Public School has an emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy across the curriculum. Students are supported to reach their personal best by dedicated and committed staff who continually strive to improve their pedagogy and practice through continuous professional learning. Staff and students are supported by colleagues and instructional leaders.

Merrylands East PS school hours are 8am and 1:15pm.

The Teacher-Librarian position is made up of 0.8 FTE Teacher-Librarian entitlement, an additional 0.2 FTE is supplemented by the school to make this a full time 1.0 FTE position.

Specific Selection Criteria 

1. Approval to teach Library (Primary) or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.

2. Implementation of evidence-informed literacy practices across the curriculum for students with diverse learning needs.

3. Highly developed communciation and interpersonal skills with the capacity to plan and evaluate in collaborative teams. 

4. Ability to develop strong connection with the community and foster positive relationships with all stake holders.

5. Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning, and manage the library system.


An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Special Notes 

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.


If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.


It is anticipated that this position will commence on day 1 of the 2022 school year
