Position Information 

Merewether Heights Public School was established in 1970 and caters for a diverse community of learners. The school is situated within a stable residential area in Newcastle, located approximately 2km from the beach. The school's enrolment was 346 at the commencement of 2021, with 6 students identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 29 students with a language background other than English.

The school enjoys the support of a very positive and supportive parent community. The community has high expectations of the school; wanting the very best for their children. Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach infants and primary (K-6) with a demonstrated capacity to provide high quality teaching and learning programs using evidence-based pedagogies.

Evidence of data-informed practices to ensure all students meet their growth potential in literacy and numeracy.

Highly developed communication and organisational skills with the ability to work collaboratively to mentor and support staff to ensure quality academic and extra-curricular opportunities are provided to all students.

Demonstrated ability to develop a positive school environment that supports students in achieving success academically, behaviourally and socially through outstanding implementation of inclusive and differentiated wellbeing practices.
