Teacher of Art

Chiltern Hills AcademyBuckinghamshire

Chiltern Hills Academy invites applications for the opportunity to join the staff of a successful, mixed 11-18 Church of England Academy. Based in the market town of Chesham, Buckinghamshire, we are located in the Chiltern Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty conveniently situated at the end of the London Underground Metropolitan Line.

Due to our continuing expansion, we are seeking to appoint from September 2021, a well-qualified, enthusiastic and passionate Art teacher (the ability to teach Photography would be favourable) to work in a lively and energetic department to teach Art to GCSE and A Level.  The Department is well resourced and you will be supported by a committed and passionate Head of Department. Art and Photography consistently perform well at GCSE and A Level at Chiltern Hills Academy. An interest in teaching another subject at GCSE/A Level would be an advantage and can be discussed at interview stage.

The successful applicant will be a dynamic practitioner who can deliver high quality learning and who has students’ progress at the forefront of their teaching. They will be able to communicate their passion for the subject through innovative, diverse and stimulating teaching methods. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive and significant contribution to our wonderful school. The successful candidate will be fully involved in departmental development, target setting and evaluation of student progress and will possess the following attributes:

  • An outstanding classroom practitioner
  • Highly developed inter-personal skills
  • High expectations for student achievement.

Applications from NQTs, experienced teachers or those returning to the profession will be welcome.  We are committed to the development our staff; to support them to further their career, progress professionally and develop their teaching and leadership skills.

We have been graded ‘good’ following our latest SIAMS inspection (March 2020). “The academy is highly inclusive, and tireless in supporting all of its pupils and staff. Because of this, each person is known, nurtured and inspired. This enables them to make strong progress from their starting points”. Our OFSTED inspection in February 2017 also judged the school as ‘good’ in all categories.

We have recently embarked on the next stage of our school development programme to accommodate growing numbers and add to our well-resourced teaching environment.
