We are seeking a self-motivated, creative and inspiring teacher who has experience in curriculum planning and delivery of the Arts (Fine Art, Photography, Graphics, Textiles) across Key Stages 3-4 with an experience at Key Stage 5 being desirable, but not essential. You will be an outstanding teacher who is passionate about your subject and able to inspire and motivate students to learn, and collaborate with other teachers in the delivery of an engaging curriculum.

The successful candidate will be joining one of our consistently high achieving areas, which continues to be a popular choice with students as one of their GCSE or A Levels options.

The Academy is looking for someone who has:

• Excellent skill and subject knowledge in one or more of the areas: Fine Art, Photography, Graphics or Textile Design;

• A track record of inspiring students in the Arts, enabling them to achieve outstanding outcomes;

• Inspiring and creative ideas to make the Arts accessible to a range of abilities and skill levels;

• The ability to understand and work with assessment data to monitor and intervene as appropriate with students;

• Some experience in teaching A Level Art or Photography is desirable but not necessary.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Teaching the Arts across Key Stages 3-5;

• Working with others to improve outcomes and life chances for every learner in each teaching group benchmarked against national criteria and data;

• Delivering, planning and preparing lessons in accordance with the planned curriculum;

• Contribution to curriculum design within Art;

• Working as part of a team that ensures creative and innovative learning and teaching occurs in every lesson;

• Being a Form Tutor.

Q3 is part of the Mercian Academy Trust, one of nine schools across Sandwell and Walsall, which is committed to staff development opportunities and ongoing training.

A Welcome Message from our Headteacher

Following our Ofsted inspection in September 2022, you would be joining a ‘Good’, ‘calm and orderly’ Academy which ‘serves its community well’ in which ‘teachers have strong subject knowledge’ and are ‘ambitious for all students’. We are looking for someone to join and complement our staff team and support us on our journey to being Outstanding. Our educational philosophy is simple. First and foremost we want every child to feel happy and excited about coming to the Academy. Only when each child feels secure and comfortable can we challenge them to grow and learn together. We want our students to return home telling their families of the memorable exciting learning experiences they have enjoyed. Experiences that make it easier to recall the detail necessary for exam success and experiences that develop their character as much as their academic potential. Our passion is helping young people to flourish and become confident capable adults ready for the world ahead. This passion creates a genuine warmth that supports every member of our Q3 Academy Great Barr community. Our traditional family values and Trust ethos, ‘Life to the full in pursuit of what is good, right, and true’ helps to keep the academic and well-being of every child sharply in focus and drives our ambition for continual improvement. Only if our staff can say that what we provide is good enough for their own children is it good enough for yours, and I’m proud to say this commitment to care, coupled with high academic ambition is helping all our young people to succeed.

Mr Mark Arnull - Headteacher
