Founded in 1972 in the United Kingdom, the name Nord Anglia reflects the company’s beginnings in the north of England. NAE initially offered learning services such as English-as-a-foreign-language classes and grew during the 1980s by opening full-scale nurseries and kindergartens. In 1992, NAE opened its first international school, the British School of Warsaw. In the 2000s, the company began a strategic focus on premium international schools, with rapid growth in Asia, the Americas, China and across Europe and the Middle East. NAE now operates premium international schools worldwide. In July 2019, the company relocated its headquarters from Hong Kong to London, enabling even stronger growth in the future.

About your school

Also established in 1972, Dover Court International School in Singapore is one of the leading inclusive British international schools in South East Asia.

The school caters to students from age 3 to age 18. The curriculum is based upon the UK EYFS framework, the National Curriculum for England, the IPC, IGCSE/GCSE and the IB Diploma Programme. The school is active in the local International School sports league and are extremely competitive across a number of sports. The school has an extensive programme of residential trips starting in Year 4 and continuing up into the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. Students are involved in a wide range of after school activities mainly run by teaching staff. About 10% of our students are supported by our integrated SEN unit.

The school is on a green 12 acre site, 20 minutes from the Singapore CBD and has specialist facilities including libraries, ICT suites, The Link (makerspace), dance studio, swimming pool and sports hall. We recently opened a brand-new building to accommodate the increasing numbers of Secondary which boasts purpose-built Art, Drama, PE, Music and IT specialist spaces.

We are members of FOBISIA and CIS and will finalise CIS accreditation in November this year. We are an EDEXCEL and AQA exam centre and are authorised by the IBO to deliver the IB Diploma Programme. We are the only school in Singapore to offer ASDAN courses.

Staff are well supported with weekly in-house CPD sessions and access to external training courses where they fit the school and personal development plans.

About the role

Join our fast-paced international environment, and you will be supporting students to gain an important set of vocational skills and qualifications before further education or entering the world of work.  You will be responsible for one group of post 16 age students who wish to stay at DCIS for further education following Year 11, or may join us from other international skills at this entry point, but do not meet the learner profile requirements for the IB. This is a new pathway for our students and an exciting opportunity to create an inclusive post 16 learning opportunity in Singapore. Due to the nature of the role and our inclusive environment, experience of teaching students with additional learning needs is essential. 

About you

Able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment, you will bring a university degree, a recognised teaching qualification and considerable teaching experience to the table. Committed and creative, you will be reflective on your own teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise the school’s level of achievement.

The ability to lead and develop a team, and to communicate clearly with all stakeholders is essential.

Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Singapore.

Selection Process

The closing date for application is 6 January 2020. First stage interviews will be conducted by Skype or telephone and final interviews will take place at the Nord Anglia Education Recruitment Event in central London in the week commencing 21st January 2020 (alternative arrangements will be made for candidates who cannot attend in person).
