We are offering an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious and inspirational practitioner with strong subject knowledge to join our excellent Business and Enterprise Department.
Our Business Studies department is composed of experienced, enthusiastic and engaging teachers. Business studies is a very popular subject a KS4 and KS5 offering a variety of BTEC, A Level and International Baccalaureate Diploma courses.
The department has a purpose built environment for Business and Enterprise with facilities that include interactive white boards, computers, and a careers hub which hosts a professional business atmosphere.
The post would be an excellent opportunity for either an experienced teacher, or an NQT with the capacity to rise to the challenge of teaching A level. NQT's at the Abbey School will receive full support in their induction year and will benefit from our outstanding Coaching and Mentoring programme. In addition to this we offer an outstanding range of CPD opportunities for all staff.
Ofsted February 2017 confirmed the school continues to provide a good education for all of its pupils. They noted several strengths including “strong leadership, the quality of teaching, improving exam results, a vibrant sixth form, good behavior, and an excellent level of care and safety”.
We have an ambitious vision for our school driven by our excellent team to ensure our students experience as much Outstanding and Good practice as possible. In line with this we are looking for a candidate who can regularly deliver lessons to these standards.
The Abbey School is a wide ability 11-19 Academy of over 1000 students, with over 185 students in the sixth form. We are also an IBCP Centre and are currently oversubscribed in year 7. We have a very positive team with high staff morale.
The school is situated on the rural outskirts of a small market town. We provide the highest quality value added education and excellent pastoral care for all students who feel secure and valued.

About The Abbey School
The Abbey School is a co-educational 11-19 academy 1,120 students (180 in the sixth form). It is situated on the rural outskirts of the pretty market town of Faversham with excellent links to London. We became a stand alone academy in August 2011 and are unique in that we have an Autism Centre which offers outstanding provision for 32 autistic students who are fully integrated into mainstream lessons and all aspects of school life. We are a highly inclusive non-selective school with rising rolls drawing from 32 feeder primary schools. We employ over 200 staff and are the second largest employer in the town. Staff turnover is low and staff morale is very high.
The school’s recruitment and retention of staff is excellent; we offer outstanding Continued Professional Development. All departments are staffed with highly qualified professionals who are committed to providing an outstanding learning experience for our students.
