Inspire, transform, teach! We are currently looking to appoint a dedicated and inspiring Teacher of Business Studies.

At Harris Clapham Sixth Form, you will join a dedicated team of teachers and staff supporting our vibrant students. If you are looking for an opportunity to grow, inspire and develop, this may be the role for you.

About Us

Our academy is brand new and benefits from being a state-of-the-art building. It has been especially designed to deliver a Sixth Form education, including an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related subjects.

We have, for example, high specification science laboratories, computing suites and art facilities. In short, our teachers have access to the resources that they need to teach their subjects to the highest level.

Our teachers are all subject experts – they have a deep knowledge that will enable them to support and challenge their students to achieve their personal best. I am also the Executive Principal for Harris Academy Clapham. The Sixth Form will work closely with Harris Clapham - one example of this is sixth-formers working with younger students to give them additional role modelling and inspiration. The vision for Harris Clapham Sixth Form is simple: 'Be the best'.

Main Areas of Responsibility

As a teacher at Harris Clapham Sixth Form, you will:

  • teach Business Studies A level effectively, enthusiastically, infectiously;
  • make sure all students develop a deep understanding of and love for the subject;
  • assess and intervene so that students reach the top grades;
  • share a passion for pedagogy with other teachers, both within and outside science;
  • develop and adapt the classroom curriculum to meet students’ needs;
  • encourage in students self-confidence and a commitment to their future so that they see and seize opportunities for personal, professional and academic growth;
  • guide, lead, monitor and support a group of students as a form tutor;
  • contribute to a wider passion for learning and the enrichment curriculum.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant subject and DfE recognised QTS
  • Successful teaching experience at A level (including as a trainee)
  • Understanding of theory/practice of effective teaching and learning.
  • Understanding of the importance of having high expectations for all students, both of behaviour and academic achievement.
  • Understanding of inclusive practices which offer equality of access to the curriculum for all, including special educational needs, English as an additional language and high achievers.
  • Understanding the importance of being a tutor.
