Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Business Studies, looking to develop your career in a supportive and innovative department? If so, come and join our outstanding team at Outwood Academy City Fields?

At Outwood Academy City Fields we place students at the centre of everything we do, with a focus on creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, and increased student attainment, achievement and social and emotional development.

Outwood Academy City Fields converted in July 2018 to be part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust. Based near the centre of Wakefield, the school benefits from close links to public transport and is also situated 3 miles from both the M1 and the M62.

Outwood Grange Academies Trust provides a high-quality learning and cultural environment that inspires and motivates children. Whether you are ambitious for progression or determined to be an outstanding classroom teacher, Outwood Academy City Fields is the place for you. Leadership development, succession planning and capacity building are major priorities for the Trust as this enables us to facilitate rapid progression for those who want to advance either in the classroom or at leadership level. You will be well supported by an experienced team of Teachers and Directors as you work to raise attainment levels and offer an engaging curriculum experience.

The Academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools, which affords opportunities for staff to work and progress across several schools if desired. All staff are guaranteed a minimum of two hours CPD per week and a further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through our own network of teaching schools.

In line with the Government’s announcement, our academy is closed until further notice. However, we are still busily planning ahead for the forthcoming academic year and are excited about welcoming new recruits to come and join us. In place of academy based interviews, we have set up systems to ensure that alternative options are still available via Skype/video conferencing wherever possible. Every effort will be made to try and accommodate any specific requirements so that no-one is at a disadvantage.

Understandably, visits to the school are not possible at present, however we are really keen to ensure that you have as much information to proceed with your application as possible, so if you would like a conversation about either the academy or the position please contact Ann Jarrett, Business Manager via email: a.jarrett@cityfields.outwood.com who will be happy to assist.

Closing date: Midday on 17 April 2020.

Interview date: 21 April 2020.

We reserve the right to close advertisements early. Advertisements will therefore close at 12 noon, either on the advertised closing date, or the day the decision has been taken to close the advertisement early.

Outward Grange Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.

Interim Chief Executive Officer - Lee Wilson

Principal: Michelle Colledge-Smith

Outwood Academy City Fields is an 11-16 academy based in the friendly cathedral city of Wakefield.  The Academy was rated Good by Ofsted in March 2022. We joined the Outwood family of schools in 2018.

Excellent teaching and the highest standards of behaviour are at the heart of everything we do, and we champion innovation in all aspects of learning. We were delighted that in its latest report, Ofsted noted ‘Outwood Academy City Fields is a school where leaders want the very best for pupils. Their motto of putting ‘students first’ is something that directs and guides leaders’ actions each day. Because leaders set such a strong example of their high ambitions for pupils, other staff mirror these aspirations’.

We know that the ingredients of a great school are an inclusive, broad and balanced curriculum, high quality teaching and learning, positive behaviours which promote engagement and great pastoral support which, when combined can create a great culture where we raise standards and transform lives.

At the heart of everything we do is excellent teaching and the highest standards of behaviour. We champion innovation in all aspects of learning, while striving to develop a school-wide mindset based around mutual respect and tolerance.

We believe our success speaks for itself as we are above the national average for the number of students achieving at a Grade 5 or above in English and maths GCSEs. We are also proud to have been awarded Silver Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.

As we look to build on our success, help to take us to the next level.

The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.

We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

If you share our vision, join our family.
