Having built the very best building for teaching Science in the country, Uppingham School require the best teachers who will inspire and challenge our pupils to work at the highest academic levels.

We now seek an outstanding Teacher of Chemistry to play a key role in making Uppingham a national centre for excellence in Science education. You will be joining one of the highest achieving departments at GCSE and Pre U in recent years and ensure pupils of all abilities continue to enjoy and succeed in their Chemistry studies.

This position could equally suit an NQT, or an experienced teacher. You will be expected to play a full part in the life of this seven-day week boarding school, by taking on responsibilities in addition to classroom teaching.

Uppingham School is a mixed, Church of England independent secondary school with sixth form and boarding, located in Leicestershire. The secondary school, situated in Uppingham has approximately 791 students on record.

Uppingham School was founded in 1584, originally as a school for boys. In 1975 girls were admitted, and it became fully co-educational as of 2001. The majority of students attending the secondary school are boarders.

Work is generally presented neatly and pupils’ note-taking is effective. They develop good numeracy skills and their capacity to think critically is notable. Creative abilities are well developed and their exploration of ideas is particularly marked in their enrichment activities. Pupils’ study habits are good. In the lessons observed, pupils worked very well with each other, and also worked well independently. They enjoy their work and this stems in part from the good-natured atmosphere in lessons. Pupils use information and communications technology (ICT) proficiently.”
