The de Ferrers Academy has gained a reputation for high levels of academic achievement.  We have a positive ethos and excellent staff/student relationships, we value our staff and are committed to their personal and professional development.    In recent years, the Academy has developed a national reputation for innovation and success in Learning technologies and ICT.   The Academy is an Apple Regional Training Centre, with 1:1 use of iPads for all Key Stage 4 and 5 students. 

The Faculty incorporates Religious Studies, Citizenship and PSHEE (called “Values”) across all Key Stages, as well as Key Stage 4 & 5 Social Sciences. The Social Sciences comprise well established A level courses in Psychology, Sociology and Politics, as well as Level 3 Health and Social Care courses. In Key Stage 4 we offer GCSE Religious Studies as well as Level 2 Childcare and Level 2 Health and Social Care courses. Within a secure and well-rehearsed structure, we seek to deliver exciting and engaging programmes of study that respond and adapt to our ever changing society, in order to enable all our learners to attain at the highest level.

Each week, students in Key Stage 3 have dedicated time for Values, incorporating PSHE, Careers Education & Citizenship Studies. They also have a separate hour of Religious Studies each week. In Year 10 & 11, students will follow the AQA Religious Studies “A” new specification GCSE course, either as an optional exam course or as part of a core Religious Studies, Citizenship, PSHEE and Careers offer.
