Job overview

We seek to appoint a well-qualified, professional and versatile Computer Science teacher from September 2019. We would welcome applications from candidates seeking both full time and part time and also from NQTs.

The successful candidate will have the ability to teach KS3 and KS4 Computer Science across all age and ability ranges. You will be an effective classroom teacher with the ability to raise the achievement of all students and be keen to play a full part in the life of the school. You will be proficient in programming to at least GCSE standard.

The Computer Science department is a well-resourced department within the STEM faculty at Hinchingbrooke and has its own Head of Department who oversees all of the curriculum in KS3-KS5.

Computer Science

ICT is taught throughout the 11 - 18 age range and at all levels of ability. ICT is taught in mixed ability groups in Years 7 and 8, with pupils at Hinchingbrooke starting their KS4 programme in Year 9 and there are often 50-65 pupils who opt to take this subject at GCSE. In KS4, we offer the Creative iMedia course along with the GCSE in Computer Science. In KS5, we offer A-level Computer Science and we run one class for this course.

Teaching

The successful candidate will be expected to be an excellent classroom practitioner. As a school we value highly the development of new and existing materials and the post will involve the opportunity to work on the review of existing materials and the development of new ideas.

Above all else, the successful candidate should be enthusiastic about their work with young people and have a genuine concern for their development as individuals.

The school sees the form tutor as a key role in the support, development and welfare of the students and teachers are expected to undertake this role with the same standards and commitment as their subject role.

The role will suit enthusiastic and aspirational teachers or those with good and outstanding practice who wish to share their expertise and make a difference. The school offers a bespoke CPD programme, research and development, links and networks with other outstanding schools as well as a plethora of extra-curricular and cross-curricular working opportunities.

Why come to Hinchingbrooke?

This is a fantastic school to work in: on interview, we ask candidates for their impressions of the college and without fail they comment on how wonderful our students are, the positive team ethos amongst staff and how friendly and welcoming the college is.

As a result of our success and popularity, we are growing!  We are over-subscribed and expanding, hence the need for additional high quality staff to add to our excellent teams.

If you are an outstanding teacher it really is worth applying for this post and joining somewhere special.  We are seeking to appoint a candidate who is passionate about their subject area; a team player who will thrive on collaboration and team work; someone who really wants to make a difference!

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Hinchingbrooke School values the diversity of our workforce and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.

Closing date: Monday 21st January 2019 (12 noon)
